The Canon PIXMA MP530 is a general purpose all-in-one printer, scanner, copier and fax machine from Canon. Primarily designed for a medium amount of home/home office use due to its small ink cartridges, the MP530 features barebone printer and connectivity options compared to more advanced models from Canon and comparable brands. The MP530 improves upon cheaper models by including a 5 cartridge printer system, improving speed and document quality.
The HP LaserJet 5550n is a color laser jet printer offered by HP that is designed to be used by a large enterprise business. It is capable of printing 27 pages per minute at its best quality (600 x 600 dpi) in color, and has a recommended monthly print volume of 2500 to 10,000 pages. It comes with 2 paper trays standard with up to 5 maximum, for a maximum paper capacity of 2100 sheets, and has the ability to handle a large range of media types and sizes (see below). It is powered by a 533 MHz processor and has 160 MB of memory standard, which can be upgraded to 544 MB maximum. It is compatible with nearly all Windows and Mac operating systems allowing it to fit in virtually any workplace. The HP LaserJet P4515n is a high-impact and super-powered B/W laser printer designed to boost workgroup productivity. A step up from the LaserJet P4014n and LaserJet P4015n, the LaserJet P4515n offers a highly enhanced 62 ppm print speed. The Basics: Printer Drum 101
Initially, the drum is given a total positive charge by the charge corona wire, a wire with an electrical current running through it. (Some printers use a charged roller
instead of a corona wire, but the principle is the same.) As the drum
revolves, the printer shines a tiny laser beam across the surface to
discharge certain points. In this way, the laser "draws" the letters
and images to be printed as a pattern of electrical charges -- an electrostatic image. The system can also work with the charges reversed -- that is, a positive electrostatic image on a negative background.
The laser "writes" on a photoconductive revolving print drum.

After the pattern is set, the printer coats the printer drum with positively charged toner
-- a fine, black powder. Since it has a positive charge, the toner
clings to the negative discharged areas of the drum, but not to the
positively charged "background." This is something like writing on a
soda can with glue and then rolling it over some flour: The flour only
sticks to the glue-coated part of the can, so you end up with a message
written in powder.
With the powder pattern affixed, the drum rolls over a sheet of
paper, which is moving along a belt below. Before the paper rolls under
the drum, it is given a negative charge by the transfer corona wire
(charged roller). This charge is stronger than the negative charge of
the electrostatic image, so the paper can pull the toner powder away.
Since it is moving at the same speed as the drum, the paper picks up
the image pattern exactly. To keep the paper from clinging to the printer drum,
it is discharged by the detac corona wire immediately after picking up the toner.

The Brother MFC-8890DW is a multifunction black and white laser printer built for small to medium-sized businesses and is a step up from the MFC-8860DN.
The MFC-8890 includes print, copy, scan, and fax capabilities to provide
all-round office printing functionality. The MFC-8890 is more advanced than the
MFC-8860DN since it includes wireless connectivity which the MFC-8860DN
lacks, making it capable of printing, scanning, and sending faxes
wirelessly. The Brother MFC8890 uses a TN-650 laser toner.

The 2009 Brother MFC-7340
is an all in one laser center that does printing, copying, faxing and
scanning. Targeted for individual use or small offices. It can be used
without being plugged into a PC. It prints high quality documents
at 2400 x 600 dpi, which is comparable in quality to the more advanced MFC 9000 series. It has a USB interface, a 16 mb memory and can accommodate up to 10,000 pages a month. It is comparable to the Brother MFC-7220,
which has the same price of $200 in the same series. This one prints
one page faster, probably b/c it has a faster processor since it was
released 4 years after the Brother MFC-7220. |
